Governance

AFTES is administered by a Board of Directors elected by the General Meeting of Members for a renewable three-year term. All major components of the profession are represented on the Board.

Committees – Delegations

Committees coordinate activities in the various fields addressed by the Association. Regional Delegations act as local representatives of AFTES, and organise meetings, visits and conferences.

Working Groups

Working Groups (WG) are set up to address thematic needs identified by the Association. Most report to a Committee, which is responsible for coordination between the various WGs within its scope, and for approving their deliverables.

Publications Committee

The Publications Committee is responsible for overseeing the production of the association’s publications: the Tunnels and Underground Spaces journal; the recommendations, developed by various Working Groups under the guidance of the Technical Committee or the Underground Space and Transitions Committee; special issues; and technical data sheets.

International - AFTES - AITES/ITA

International

AFTES was among the founding members of ITA-AITES in 1974, and remains committed to all of its activities; AFTES recently helped to set up the European Underground and Tunnel Forum (EUTF) under the ITA umbrella, as a means of consolidating the European participation.
