Education Committee
The role of the Education Committee is to promote initial and ongoing training in tunnelling and underground space-related professions, and to develop training and research relationships with the academic world.
Committee missions are as follows:
- Propose a range of "AFTES-certified" continuing education programs, in partnership with institutional training organizations, to meet the significant need for skills within the profession.
- Develop partnerships with institutions offering initial or continuing education in tunneling, underground structures, or underground spaces, playing a role as a facilitator and supporter for the implementation and delivery of such training.
- Promote the underground field to the student public, raising awareness of the variety of careers and the profession's needs among students.
- In connection with the work of the Technical Committee, promote a space for exchange between underground professionals and the academic research community.
- Encourage the dissemination of scientific knowledge from university research to the profession.
