Technical Committee

Specialists in the various underground works disciplines

On inception, AFTES set up a Technical Committee (TC) and a Working Groups (WG) tasked with exploring topics of common interest to the profession.
The Committee and working groups are made up of specialists in disciplines relating to the various aspects of underground works.
They represent the full spectrum of stakeholders (approximately one-third are contractors, one-third project managers and one-third contracting authorities) and their main task is to issue technical recommendations.

There are around 20 active working groups.

Goals

The AFTES Technical Committee, which includes representatives from all of the association’s constituent communities, determines the themes addressed by the working groups, informed by demand within the Profession. It monitors the progress of the work of the various groups, and then reviews and approves the documents they produce, granting them “AFTES Recommendation” status. These recommendations form a reference system appreciated by all involved in underground works. They are commonly used as reference documents for domestic and international calls for tender.
For this reason, all new AFTES recommendations are translated into English. Most recent recommendations are available to view and download on the Association’s website.
