Young Members Committee
A committee for younger AFTES members
Younger underground professionals are teaming up to make a bigger contribution to all AFTES activities, as well as organising special events and initiatives.
The AFTES Youth Committee rallies all students and young professionals (under-35s) interested in the field of underground space and works.
Its purpose is to coordinate an ever-growing network of young people, provide a forum for discussing their work, promote initiatives focussed on sharing experiences with older counterparts, and bring new energy to the Association’s development. The Committee also liaises with Young Members groups of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES) and the European Underground and Tunnel Forum (EUTF).
The Young Members Committee regularly organises events:
- Work site tours
- Debates and social evenings
- Meetings with young members of sister international associations
- Presentations on underground professions in schools
As well as organising events aimed specifically at young people, the committee encourages the inclusion of young professionals in AFTES working groups and committees.
