50th Anniversary Conference of the SIG.

As part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of SIG and ITA, a remarkable conference took place on November 29 at the Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, Italy.

The theme of this conference, “The Last Five Decades, and Onwards” provided an opportunity to showcase a panorama of iconic projects and share lessons learned that have shaped our profession.

Magali Schivre, Vice President of AFTES, presented the major French project EOLE, winner of the 2023 ITA Tunnelling Awards in the category “Major Project of the Year over €500M.” Eric Leca, President of the European Underground & Tunnel Forum (EUTF), also spoke, providing an overview of the Forum’s activities.

Hubert Tournery, President of AFTES, and Michel Defayet received certificates for the Fréjus and Mont-Blanc tunnels, two of the 50 emblematic projects selected by ITA.
