The Société du Grand Paris (SGP) has begun awarding contracts for Line 15 West.
The contract will include the design and construction of the southern section of Line 15 West, comprising a 14 km long tunnel, 17 auxiliary structures and five metro stations. This section connects La Défense to an intermediate structure located between the Pont de Sèvres and Saint Cloud stations on Line 15 South.
SGP expects to award this contract in mid-2022; it is the first of four tenders to be published for the construction of lines 15 West and East. Line 15 West, 20 km long with a total of 11 stations, will connect Pont-de-Sèvres to Saint-Denis-Pleyel; Line 15 East, 23 km long, will connect Saint Denis-Pleyel to Champigny and will include 12 stations.
The other 3 tenders are expected to be published before the end of 2022, the contracts should all be signed before the end of 2024, and the two lines should be inaugurated in 2030.
In addition, at the beginning of the year, the 14th tunnel boring machine for the 200 km long metro network around Paris was being assembled.
Delivered by Herrenknecht, it will dig a 3.1 km section of the line 15 South tunnel from the future Bry-Villiers-Champigny station to the Champigny station.
The project’s first tunnel boring machine was launched in April 2018 for Line 15 South. Currently, nine TBMs are excavating Line 15 South, three are excavating Line 14 South and two are excavating Line 16.
Three other tunnel boring machines should be launched in the coming months. Lines 15 South, 14 South and the Le Bourget-Saint-Denis-Clichy-Montfermeil section of line 16 are scheduled to open in 2024.
Finally, a feasibility study is to be carried out for the extension of metro line 12 from the current Mairie d’Issy terminus to the Léon Blum district and on to the Ferme crossroads, located between Issy les Moulineaux and Meudon. This extension would allow a connection to the future line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express, and to establish an interconnection with the RER C.
The Issy-les-Moulineaux City Council gave the green light for the launch of feasibility studies on October 14. The studies will also be financed by VIPARIS, the company in charge of the Paris exhibition center, the City of Meudon, the Caisse des Dépôts and the local public establishment, Grand Paris Seine Ouest. The total cost of the studies is estimated at 1.25 million euros.
