The activities of AFTES and its members are a rich seam of job opportunities for anyone interested in tunnels and underground space.
These are generally exciting professions, enabling work in France or internationally on unique, special projects that benefit society, the environment and the economy.
The common denominator of these professions is to the underground nature of the structures to be planned, developed, designed, built and maintained.
These professions are found among the main AFTES members:
- Project owners, contracting authorities and developers.
- Engineering firms, project managers and consultants.
- General-purpose and specialist construction or design-and-build contractors.
- Machinery and equipment manufacturers, as well as producers of special-purpose materials.
The main sought after trades in the "underground" sector are:
- Engineer specialising in design, calculations, works, planning, methods, quality, environment, safety, etc.
- Surveyor, topographer, monitoring officer.
- Designer, BIM technician.
- Works inspector, laboratory technician.
- Plant operator, TBM operator.
- Mechanic, electrician, automated control technician, fitter.
- Semi-skilled worker, skilled worker, team leader.
- Site foreman, works supervisor.
- Senior management: project director, etc.
