It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Robert LIMONET during our association’s congress.
For our profession, this is the passing of a great figure in underground works, an unrivalled boss of major underground projects, a charismatic leader who made his many projects exemplary successes that were always a source of technical progress for our professions.
In particular, he was one of the key players in the construction of the “Titans” motorway, directing the successive drilling of the two Chamoise tunnels, after having earlier completed the Vuache tunnel on the same A40 motorway.
He also worked on the Fréjus tunnel, the Penne-Mirabeau tunnel, the Vouvray tunnel and many others…
He had honoured us with his ever benevolent presence at the Chambéry technical days and the 50th anniversary of the AFTES in October last year.
On behalf of the entire AFTES family, we extend our sincere condolences to his wife, daughter and family.
For a tribute to him
